Spring Mantel Style - Found, Made, DIY

What kind of decor do you gravitate toward? Do you like to curate your look from a home store, thrift or antique store, or do you like to DIY your decor?

Maybe you’re like me and mix all three! Keep reading for details about each item…

When it comes to switching out for a new season, I like to shop my house first! Do you shop your home? I was able to get this look using things I already had.

Antique Mirror: So that mirror came from our guest bathroom. You know, the one that hangs above the sink? Ha! Looks like I’ll need to find another mirror to replace it. I’d actually like to find a smaller mirror for the mantel, but I’m using what I have for now. I originally found it in an antique store while building this house, so I’ll just wait until I find just the right one.

Tobacco Basket: I found that round basket behind the mirror at a local antique store a couple years ago. It’s one of my favorite pieces of decor. I actually passed it up a few times (because of the price), but I’m glad I finally ended up buying it (I got a better deal). I haven’t seen one like it since!

Candle Holders: The candle holders might be my favorite part of the whole look. (We make + sell those in our shop, other colors are available!) I love the pop of green they add to an otherwise neutral mantel. It makes it feel livelier, like spring!

Textured Vase: The white vase was a DIY from last year. I used a textured paint method on an old glass vase. I’m not sure I ever documented it, but it’s easy, I simply added baking soda to chalk paint until it made a paste.

Bead Garland: I found the bead garland at a local gift shop after Christmas a couple years ago. It has a natural finish, so I stained it to coordinate with the other wood tones in our house.

What I love about each of these items is that I can use them all year long; they’re like staple pieces in a wardrobe. You might not have these items in your house already, but if you want to recreate this look, I hope this blog post helps you know what to look for when you shop.

Happy Styling,

Megan
